Play Action and Position buttons can be renamed according to your own needs via the Preferences.

The Game Control area is the engine room of Coach Express. Here you can prepare for a game by first clicking the Quarter Details button to set the play court direction, quarter time and manual actions. Once ready, you can assign players to positions, enter game notes or simply click the Start/Stop button to begin recording. The court diagram contains hot spot overlays that, when clicked, record the court spots where action took place. Click the Stats button to bring up the statistics.

Any action can be recorded with two or three clicks, where the action, time, player name and court sport are recorded automatically. For example, a positive centre pass can be recorded by clicking the CP+ button, then a position button to record the receiver and a court sport to record the court spot where the ball was received. Goals and missed goals are recorded by clicking the home or opponent goal buttons at each end of the court. Clicking a player position immediately after clicking a goal button (or missed goal button) will attribute the goal to that position, player and court spot. Actions can be viewed as they list by clicking either the green arrow right or down button (depending on your screen requirements). this brings up the actions list window. You can then instantly see the actions being complied as they happen.
