Sky, stars, sun, sea, earth
And colours of all people.
(c) 1988 N J Waddington
Many people ask us about our logo, particularly the flag.
Waddington Educational Resources Pty Ltd began in 1986. Our logo has remained virtually unchanged apart from the flag. We began with the standard Australian flag. In 1988 we developed a new flag because we did not feel the current Australian flag was truly representative of modern Australia.
The design is essentially a sky/land/sea scape. It shows the setting sun with the Southern Cross emerging. If you look up in the southern sky, from South Australia, during the winter months, after the sun has set, the Southern Cross looks like this. The red band represents the warm red earth. The blue represents the cool sea. The seven pointed floating star represents the states and territories of Australia. The colours are a true reflection of the varied human make up of Australia. One day Australia will have a new flag. It may not be ours, but we feel it's important to take a transitionary stand.
